This presentation, developed by Lauren Bradley, MHS and narrated by Laura Alexander, gives you an overview of the State Laboratory of Public Health in action, and how the state laboratory serves as a vital partner in public health preparedness.
Target Audience
These learning modules are applicable to all public health, medical, veterinary, pharmacy, emergency management, hospital and other professionals interested in public health preparedness. These modules are created by faculty and guest lecturers at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
Educational Objectives
- Understand the importance of consulting with the laboratory prior to field investigation and of linking lab and epidemiologic procedures
- Understand case definitions and their role in laboratory and epidemiological investigation
- Discuss examples of laboratory-epidemiology partnerships in NC
- Describe NCSLPH's function in electronic data reporting (e.g., NCEDSS, federal laboratory networks, NC HIS, and online results reporting)
