This presentation by David C. Martinez, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Weapons of Mass Destruction Coordinator, is a three part tutorial that gives you a brief overview of what defines terrorism and law enforcement's role in domestic and international terrorism.
Target Audience
These learning modules are applicable to all public health, medical, veterinary, pharmacy, emergency management, hospital and other professionals interested in public health preparedness. These modules are created by faculty and guest lecturers at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
Educational Objectives
- List the predominant local, state, and federal law enforcement assets involved in disaster management, and describe their structures
- Describe the role and function of local, state, and federal law enforcement officials in responding to natural disasters
- Describe the role and function of local, state, and federal law enforcement officials in responding to technical disasters
- Describe the role and function of local, state, and federal law enforcement officials in responding to disasters involving weapons of mass destruction (WMD)
- Discuss how various law enforcement organizations are and are not coordinated in their response to disasters (both natural and man-made)
- Recommend strategies to improve communication, planning and interagency coordination between local, state, and federal law enforcement organizations
