Mary V. Davis, DrPH, MSPH

Dr. Mary Davis is Director of Evaluation Services at the North Carolina Institute for Public Health and Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education, both of which are part of the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health. She serves as Co-Principal Investigator for the Accreditation and Public Health Systems research project. Since 2001, Dr. Davis has directed more than 30 program planning and evaluation activities at NCIPH, the School of Public Health, and with federal agencies, national organizations and foundations. The focus of her work is public health systems and services evaluation and research using participatory approaches; specialty areas are accreditation, quality improvement, and public health partnerships. She has also taught or assisted with courses at three schools of public health and has taught evaluation courses in both the Health Policy and Management and Health Behavior and Health Education departments at UNC School of Public Health. She has mentored master's students on evaluation papers and practicum projects and conducted numerous evaluation workshops for public health practitioners. Dr. Davis earned her doctorate from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health in Behavioral Sciences in 1994 and her masters in science in public health in Health Behavior from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1991.

This is Dr. Davis' second residence in North Carolina, having graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro. She is a native of the Washington, D.C. area.
